Summer Wardrobe

Summer is here and I am looking back at the girls wardrobe I have been sewing for the last couple of months...and looking forward to a summer of awesome handmade clothes!

I'm so glad I got to use so many of my special fabric for the girls before they outgrow them!

It was a lot of fun and has freshened up their wardrobe!

I am looking forward to turning my attention to some quilting now!

Wild Things

And the wild things roared their terrible roars

and gnashed their terrible teeth

and rolled their terrible eyes

and showed their terrible claws

Where the Wild Things Are (Maurice Sendak)

Dresses for the Wild Things

For these Wild Dresses I used some of my most special fabric...

These are last dresses in the summer series of clothes I have been making the girls...they now have a wonderful handmade wardrobe ready for the all the fun these wild things will get up to!

Mini Manu

This lovely cardigan has been 2 1/2 years in the making...I would pick it up and put it down...thankfully knowing this I made it in a size 4 so it would still fit at least one of the girls one day!

I made numerous mistakes which I have now found is due to misplacing the 'special techniques' page...silly me...if you want to look at the proper pattern and do it right check it out HERE!

I love it but am very sad that I stuffed it up...the biggest mistake is that the pleats are too big...I thought nine stitch pleats meant 9 stitches but it was 3 the neckline is all wrong.

I am also sad I ran out of wool so I didn't make the pockets which was my favourite feature...I could have gotten more but at that stage I had already stuffed up the neckline so I didn't bother.

On the plus side the girls have no idea and LOVE it anyway...YES!

But I shall forever be haunted by the neckline...and I am way to scared to ravel it...(edit: raveled)

Fingers crossed my next failure will be a speedy one!

Re-purposing Liberty Fabric into Dresses

I've had a bit of a spring clean out and decided to re-purpose some of my lovely liberty clothes...

What started out as a top and dress:

Are now two lovely dresses for the girls:

It was an interesting exercise and took a bit of effort to get the pattern pieces to work but it came together in the end!

I love the lightness of the fabric - perfect for a hot summer!

I love the little mis-matched buttons on the back of Clementine's dress!

Little Clementine had one request...that the dress be PINK PINK PINK!

Interesting Tales....
