PS Apologies for posting this a day early but we are road tripping and may not have access to net!!! Read it as if from tomorrow!!!

So...

Today is the final day of Mornings and Evenings as well as the month of August (for our purposes!!). Don't forget to finish up shooting and loading up images...I can't wait to see them all by the end of the weekend so that I can vote!! Woohoo!!

Today's inspiration comes from Merilyn Fairskye who currently has an exhibition 100 on at Stills Gallery in Sydney at the moment!! I love these two images that I will classify under evening....though on second glance I am unsure.....but they are lovely!

I find Sally Mann's work evocative of other-worldliness. An alternate universe where mornings are spent on adventures down by the river and evenings around the deck with family.

This is simply my own ponderings on her work but I love the way she works with light in her black and white portraits, manipulating them to create a world beyond the ordinary.

Mornings and Evenings Craftiness

Even Craft

These days working full time and definitely not being a morning person I find my only time to craft is in the evenings. This week I decided to showcase my evening craft for my project.

I made a tutu for my daughter from the left over pieces of tulle from my wedding veil. I shot the photos of it last night just before it got too dark....in these photos my daughter is fascinated by the birds flying overhead.

The skirt just after I finished it. I had to wait till the next night to see it on Amelie.

To make it I used the knot technique which is incredibly simple and quick.

I saw it on whipup and grosgrain, both excellent blogs if you are looking at getting crafty!!

It was a very good morning.....

The work of Alicia Bock is so beautiful and relaxing it makes me want to go and lie on the beach with a book and fall asleep in the springtime sun.....her BLOG Bloom Grow Love presents a great series of works which fall into this theme.....I am particularly fond of her new series of postcards to herself....a great idea.....

Evening

A range of images that I shot tonight. It was a moody day in Sydney today with the wind and rain lashing the city. I was lucky enough to get home before it was pouring here and captured these images at last light.

My Birds and the Bees Images

I was shooting WING photos when we started playing with the beautiful dandelions in our backyard. The final four images I have chosen for the BIRDS and BEES project are based on The Jack-go-to-bed-at noon and Dandelion Fairy by Cicely Mary Barker. The remind me of dreams and wishes, flight and wings.

For this weeks craft project I made a fabric book from Cicely Mary Barker Fairy panels. This shot shows two of the pages.

Eventide

This beautiful photo of a sunset comes from Karen Walrond's photography blog chookooloonks. I find the photo relaxing and I love the way the light has worked in the image. It's very hard to get it right!

I will be posting my bird images on Flickr tonight....as well as my birdy craft and hopefully my mornings and evenings work if I can get some great shots this afternoon!!

3191 Miles Apart two photographers undertook a project of a photography a day. For the first year they looked at mornings and then more recently have completed their series of afternoons. I have mentioned there work before but I thought it was too perfect for this week.

My Ideas and Images for This Week

For this week's project I have been playing with the idea of wings and following on from the superheros and villains I have been thinking about the supernatural, magical and powerful elements in our world.

I myself have been thinking lately about when something magical will happen in my life....along the lines of growing wings or revealing my superpower.....a girl can dream eh?

So with this in mind I started shooting photos of my daughter with the my theme of

'one day when I grow up I will sprout wings and fly away...'

I am thinking about adding some elements in photoshop to show the sprouting of wings but I am not completely sure yet.....something to think about in the next couple of days I think.

Olivia Bee

I found her photostream when I was searching for some 'Bee' inspiration on Flickr. I love her works and her descriptions...they are priceless. Some beautiful work, I am even more impressed as she is 15.....

i'm olivia, i'm 15. this is my diary, it's ok if you hate it.

I cannot include any images here as she has spaceballed them and my capture software is at home!! So you just have to go and have a look......
