Make It Count

Amelie, Clementine and I made a video this week as a project!

You can see it HERE! Please excuse any dodginess as it's our first video ever...but I think Amelie did a good job!

It is a summary of the first 5 seasons of the web series The Guild!

Amelie wanted to dress up as Clara (in the light blue costume)...and here is her favourite fan art of the series (Ponies...awesome awesome Ponies):

This week we've been basking in the springtime...and raiding our favourite clover patch for crowns and 4 leaf clovers!

We (did I say we? I meant I) cleaned the girl's room...yes this is a huge effort worth noting here!

Note it I say!

WOW floor!!!

And though Clementine is dressed as Cinderella she really didn't get down to scrubbing those floor boards!

We were blessed this week with a visit from the girls' Aunites and Cousins! It's rare around here with a large distance between family so it was great to catch up...Amelie was in tears when they left and reminds me everyday how much she misses them!

There's always room for a twirl shot!

Vintage Sheet Quilt Top Completed!

This week I made the 4 squares whole!

And now my vintage sheet quilt top is done and will lie in wait for the day I get a chance to quilt it so I thought I would share photos now as that may be a while!

Sneaky little Clementine...poor girl just wanted to jump on the bed the whole time!
Never fear she got her wish moments after this photo was taken!

I am not 100% in love with it - otherwise I'm sure I would be into the quilting of it already - I wonder if I should have left out the darker squares - or only used scraps I loved - but on the other hand I am pretty impressed that my scraps made something that big!

Now onto the smaller size squares!

I cut out 324 squares

Each square was cut 6 inches by 6 inches

Seam Allowance was 1/2 inch

I made 36 medium squares made up of 9 squares each

the I made 4 large squares made up of 9 of the medium squares each

This ended up creating a large queen size quilt top!

Which may or may not make it onto our bed...I just have to butch it up a bit to meet husband approval standards?

Suggestions anyone?

Perhaps some strategically placed hammers?

Oh wait...that's for me again!

Toph from Avatar: the Last Airbender

I've been busy sewing Halloween costumes this week!

They have mostly been Ponyo but as you have seen them all before I thought I would show you something new this week!

I had a special request to make a Toph costume (from Avatar: The Last Airbender)

It was fun to try something new...and I think Amelie might have enjoyed it too!

Make It Count

We've been kicking it Old School this week...we got some Hula Hoop action going!

The girls had their first visit to a salon for a spring haircut...

Amelie putting on a brave face!

Clementine was not amused and ended up having a few tears!

The both got a small reward for their bravery...
A Pony Wedding...

and Alice (the mini one!)

Some craft we got up to this week...making flower fairies with bits from the garden...putting them between two sheets of contact paper to make beautiful window decorations!

These decorations have now been moved to the girls room to allow some new artwork to be put on display...

I spied these two in my husband's studio and grabbed them just before they were painted over!

Thank goodness as they are a couple of my favourites...which will now be living it up in my studio!

Thrift Store Finds

I've started to hunt for some new vintage sheets to add to my collection and this week did not disappoint...

I found this amazing Vintage Ballerina's so awesome I am not sure what to do with it!!

I'll have to make some dresses for the girls first as they are obsessed with Ballerinas...but then I want to keep it for something special!

I also got this ace green vintage sheet...

 ...and some cool vintage fabric

And lastly I picked up this cute skirt for summer!

Now I hope good vintage sheets keep rolling in!

9 in a Square

The quilt continues to grow...

This week I finished all of the 9 patch squares...

All 36 of them!

Then I made 4 mega 9 patches (made of 9 of the original 9 patches)

The next step is to put these 4 mega square together for the final queen size top!

Interesting Tales....
