That girl's so sweet just like her name...

S-S-Strawberry Strawberry Shortcake

The Red under-dress. I looked for a long time for red fabric with a faint black dot but ended up getting plain red as the best one I could find was a cord and I didn't want to divert too much from the classic strawberry!

I finished the apron off with green triangles with hand embroidered stitches around it and the red crosses around the hem.

And the hat....ahh the hat...so many many hours of stress over that...let me tell you!

Here is the final one to go with the costume for Amelie. I had to order the fabric from this shop on etsy after extensive searches for the right kind of red strawberries on pink fabric. They only came in fat quarters so I was happy and determined to get one good hat out of it...the top went well...but when it came to the brim it was a disaster. As I had cut the middle of the fat quarter for the hat I only had straight bits for the brim which I thought was fine (idiot!)...till I actually sewed them...and you can see the result above...it sits straight down and fat instead of out to the sides as it should. I worked out that I needed to cut the brim in the round too but of course didn't have the fabric or enough justification to order another fat quarter. So I left it as it was but I was terribly unsettled and couldn't think of anything else...

So when a last minute decision to go and meet Saffron Craig at Peg's Pieces saw me come face to face with one of the other Strawberry fabrics I had in mind so I went for it....I bought half a meter and needed all of it...1/4 for the top and 1/4 for the brim...

Look how perfect it sits...
...ahh my heart can rest easy now...I will still give Amelie the original but I am thinking of adding costumes to my shop and this will do nicely!
