11 July 2009 Daily Inspiration

'Bronwyn Rennex's body of work, Small Fires (2004) employs one of the oldest photographic techniques, the cyanotype, to give voice to contemporary concerns. She takes the literal shadow, captured in the cyanotype process, and turns it into a figurative shadow - a suggestion of the unconscious and unspoken.' Stills Gallery

Every time I visit the artist page at Stills Gallery this image always stares back at me as a standout. I love the idea of working with such hands on processes as cyanotype to create work. I also love her series of word vines expressed in the blue cyanotype - check it out.
