Screen Printing Bats
Time for my next screen printing adventure....this time with BATS!
I made up the stencil with randomly placed bats...and then got stuck in!
And that's when everything went wrong!
Some fun facts to remember when screen printing:
1. When you take it out to the line you will need to watch out for THE WIND which will blow the fabric onto itself which will cause RUIN! AND trees that will scrape along the fabric causing RUIN!
2. Once the fabric is on the line you can breath a sign of relief and walk away NOT. The wind will continue to blow the fabric onto itself causing RUIN!
After these lessons were learned...I pegged the fabric like this:
Much better...and only ALL of the fabric was ruined!
Okay I might have made one good print!
Me: "What does a Bat say Clementine?"
Clementine: "Nanananananananana BATMAN...oh no...Nanananananananana BATS"
PROUD MOTHER!
One must not remain happy with the fabric for too long as the child will then run straight into it!
Another proud moment as Clementine is running around clutching a Charlotte Bronte book...which she later proceeds to rip a page out of....so proud!
The best print from the day:
More creative types are hanging out HERE today!
Oh lessons learnt the hard way, always hurt........never mind.
ReplyDeleteLove the bats though and Clementine is just too sweet.......
So the question needs to be asked "What are you going to use the bats for?"

I'd like top make a bat cape in black and use this as lining....and then a girls dress...would like top make an adult dress too but I don't think I will have enough fabric this time!
Deleteoh drat! how frustrating! at least you did get some good prints out of it - and some lessons for next time!
ReplyDeleteI love this design so much - such a shame it got blown about :( It's been a bit rainy here lately so I've started drying mine with a hair dryer before draping it somewhere to set properly overnight. I'm actually going to do this all the time from now on because it means there's less chance of me accidentally smudging it. Kx
ReplyDeleteOh dear... I hate it when things go wrong!! At least you got a good print! Hopefully you will be able to selvage the others! :)
ReplyDeleteLove the bat design - spooky!
ReplyDeleteI love your print making, and it's such a relief to hear of others mishaps (I often think its just me!) x
ReplyDeleteIts really a very good print.
ReplyDeleteIts like you read my mind! You seem to know so much about this, like you wrote
ReplyDeletethe book in it or something. I think that you could do
