Sometimes a quilt can surprise you.
When I had finished experimenting with this quilt top and back I liked it but was a bit unsure how it would work quilted.
After putting it off for a while I sat down and quilted around the shape of the white triangles to form a window pattern...
...and BAM just like that I fell in love with it!
I bound it with a lovely black and white striped fabric and it was done!
I have no idea where this one will end up but for now it is enjoying some time in my studio!

I had some fun making a triangle colour block quilt with 2 shades of purple, blue and green.
It was fun to make and came together very quickly! I love the little black and white stripe binding and I think I may add it to a lot of creations in future!
I had an idea that I would make it for Atticus as it matched his little crochet blanket but it doesn't seem like a right fit for him and I don't like to waste anything, so I have popped it in the shop...and I have some super plans for another quilt for Atticus!

After seeing Amelie's Briar Rose Quilt, Nicole from Frontier Dreams asked if I could make one for her daughter - who also happened to be turning six in April! So now Amelie has a little birthday-quilt buddy!
For the quilt I used charm squares instead of cutting fat quarters and it came together really well!
Nicole chose to back and bind the quilt with the lovely Heather Ross bee print, and it looks amazing...even Amelie was a little jealous...and they both loved having a photo with the quilt before it travelled to the US!
Fabric: Heather Ross Briar Rose
My Amendments to the Pattern: Instead of the yardage suggested I used 13 packs of charm squares, using all 20 of the prints instead of 17.
To quilt it I used a walking foot on my standard machine and quilted every second zig zag 1/4 inch from the seam. This created a lovely chevron pattern on the back of the quilt.
To back and bind the quilt I used the Heather Ross Pink Hex Bee from the Briar Rose Collection
For the wadding I used a premium seed cotton wadding.
The quilt is now in it's new home HERE!
Head on over to check out the amazing Wee Wander Dress and beautiful handmade presents the birthday girl got!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY from AUSTRALIA!
